Welcome

Welcome to this SMR symposium on Chemokine Receptors and Drug Discovery

The discovery of chemokines and of chemokine receptors in recent years has led to a new and rapidly expanding area of biology. With the further understanding that chemokines appear to have roles in many different cell types and functions, there is the possibility that they may be important in disease processes. Having advanced beyond the stage of basic biology, chemokines have attracted great interest from organizations involved in drug discovery.

The focus of the meeting is to hear about the latest advances in the field where antagonists in different stages of development have been identified, and where future medicines could emerge.
