Overview:

This course will summarize the state of overactive bladder (OAB) terminology, understanding of underlying pathophysicology advancements in evaluation, and assessment of outcomes and additions to pharmacologic therapeutic options available for this symptom complex.  The emphasis of the course will be on new controversies, which persist in the management of this symptom group.  Newly added pharmacologic agents and possible future avenues of intervention will also be assessed.

Objectives:  After attending this course, the participants should be able to:

  • assess recent meta-analyses of OAB interventions
  • summarize research into the pathophysiology of OAB
  • explain new concepts in analyzing outcomes for OAB and treatment thereof
  • incorporate into patient care the pharmacology and therapeutic indices of the new OAB agents
