The American Urological Association (AUA) is committed to expanding its international activities to promote the highest standards of urological clinical care through education and research. The AUA has developed an annual Global Perspectives in Urology Forum to be held for the first time at its 2008 Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL. This two-hour session will be devoted to discussing urologic case studies from around the world, providing an international perspective.
This year's forum, moderated by Ralph de Vere White, M.D., and Georg Bartsch, M.D., will feature case discussions on the topic of prostate cancer, covering issues such as screening, treatment, risk management and open versus laparoscopic robotic prostatectomy and how antigen ablative therapy is best used. International experts representing United States, Germany, China, Japan and Brazil will discuss each case and treatment modalities from their perspective country. The session will conclude with a summary of the case discussions and an opportunity for audience questions.
Objectives:
After attending this session, participants should be able to:
review issues in the screening of prostate cancer
discuss the timing of hormonal ablative therapy immediate or deferred
analyze continuous or intermittent therapy
examine choice of treatment for androgen independent cases
