Continuing Medical Education (CME) Instructions
   

Accreditation
The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc. (AUAER) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The AUAER takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of this CME activity.

Statement of Need
Urologists need a thorough knowledge of the most recent developments and techniques in urology to ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the 2007 Annual Meeting, participants should be able to:

  • describe recent developments in the medical and surgical management of urology patients
  • identify new technologies for the treatment of urologic problems outline the role of simulators in urologic training
  • analyze the potential threats to urologic practice and specify possible solutions

Credit Designation
The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc. designates this educational activity for a maximum of 35.25 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

How to Obtain Credit
This CME activity consists of a webcast of live scientific presentations (plenary sessions and courses), which were recorded during the 2007 American Urological Association Annual Meeting. CME credits are available per presentation. To earn credit for each presentation:

  • Log-in or Register (see instructions below)
  • Carefully read the important CME information provided before each webcast
  • View and listen to the lecture and accompanying slide presentation
  • Claim the credits for the time you spent in the activity (see detailed instructions below)
  • Complete the evaluation (see below)
  • View/print your transcript of credit(s) (see below)

If you attended the live presentation during the 2007 American Urological Association Annual Meeting in Anaheim, and received CME credit for that presentation, you are not eligible for additional credit.

Register/Log-In
If you intend on applying for CME credits, you must log-in before you enter any of the presentations. AUA members can log-in with their AUAID and AUAID password. Non-members may register and create their own user id and password for these webcasts by following the instructions on the log-in screen (registration is free).

My Corner and Claiming Credits
Once you are logged in, the online system will automatically track the presentations you view. A list of the presentations you have watched will be stored in the My Corner section. Once you have viewed a presentation, go to the Claim Credit option or My Corner to record the credits corresponding to the time you actually spent in the activity.

My Corner will give you a list of all of the presentations you have visited, along with the number of credits available and the number of credits you claim for each. To update or change the number of credits you earn, simply click on the 'Change' option.

Evaluation and Certificate/Transcript
When you are ready to print your transcript, go to My Corner where you will be given the option to do so. Be sure to double-check the number of credits you are claiming for each presentation and correct if necessary.

The first time you print your transcript, you will be asked to complete the activity evaluation before you can print the transcript. You will not have to complete the evaluation any of the subsequent times you view or print the transcript.

You will be able to continuously view presentations, add credits to your transcript and print copies of your transcript as many times as you like until the activity expires on December 31, 2008. After the activity expires you will only be able view presentations and print your transcript for credits obtained prior to the expiration date.

Self-Assessment Tests
Several presentations are accompanied by a self-assessment test for users to test their knowledge. Completion of these tests is optional and is not required to obtain CME credits.
