About the Conference Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI) is the umbrella organisation of 64 national Alzheimer associations throughout the world. ADI holds a unique annual international conference which brings together researchers, physicians, care providers, people with dementia and their families and staff and volunteers of Alzheimer associations, from around the world to learn and share with one another. The Spanish Confederation of Families of People with Alzheimer's and Related Dementias (Confederación Española de Familiares de Enfermos de Alzheimer y otras Demencias - CEAFA) was founded in 1990 and now nearly 40,000 families are members. In 1997, a group of Spanish neurologists organised the first National Conference on Alzheimer's Disease (Conferencia Nacional de Alzheimer - CNA), and a second conference took place in 1999. This year CNA, CEAFA and ADI join forces to organize this International Alzheimer Congress with the theme of meeting the challenge of dementia together to increase public awareness of Alzheimer's disease and dementia and to promote biomedical and social health care research at all levels.
