Now being held every two years, the World Congress of Cardiology 2008 is the first one to be launched under the new strapline "From Patients to Populations". Our belief is that working together we can make a difference - as through individual, community and patient care interventions, the growing epidemic of cardiovascular disease can be prevented and managed effectively. Education within the family all the way through to patient treatment is key to addressing the burden of cardiovascular disease (mainly heart disease and stroke) which is already responsible for 17.5 million deaths a year with 80% of these deaths in low- and middle-income countries. We cannot afford to be complacent.

The webcasts offer the possibility of hearing the original lectures with their synchronized slide presentations, allowing users access to these key presentations all year long!
