Overview/Statement of Need/Target Audience

The aim of the History Forum is to familiarize urologists with past lessons, allow for creative interpretation of topics that affect urology, and to review methods and individuals who have enhanced our craft.  History is the science of understanding our past, and urologists benefit from reviews of past accomplishments and methods.  In addition, the Forum represents a vehicle of international cooperation that allows urologists and investigators from other countries to present information of a historical nature to bridge gaps and foster camaraderie.  The History Forum is open to all attendees interested in the past and the implications for urology's future. 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this continuing medical education activity, participants should be able to:

  • Better interpret the history of the specialty.
  • Apply the history of previous medical treatment to better communicate modern treatment to their patients.
  • Identify and preserve historical urological texts and instruments for the future.
